Pooler Elementary’s School-Parent Compacts 2nd Grade
Pooler Elementary School students participating in the Title I, Part A program, and their families, agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement as well as describes how the school and parents/families will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high standards.
JOINTLY DEVELOPED
Families, teachers, and students received input in helping to create a School-Family Compact tailored to the needs of our students. This input was provided via the Family Forum held in the Spring of each school year, the Annual Evaluation Survey, and feedback provided after meetings throughout the year. Our next Title 1 Annual Family Forum will be held in March of 2025. Pooler Elementary School offers ongoing events and programs to build partnerships with families.

SAVANNAH-CHATHAM COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM’S GOALS:
The Savannah-Chatham County Board of Education is committed to establishing strategic goals that support the Board’s Vision and Mission Statement. These goals will be periodically reviewed and updated. The current strategic goals are as follows:
- Goal 1 Promote the development of foundational skills and expand early learning opportunities.
- Goal 2 Advance proficiency in literacy and numeracy through high quality instruction and support for diverse learners.
- Goal 3 Enhance learning opportunities to develop the critical thinking and interpersonal skills needed for workforce development and college readiness.
- Goal 4 Provide high quality support and services for whole child development.
Pooler Elementary School GOALS:
Improve academic achievement for students. By spring 2024, our K-5th grade SWD students will improve from 18% to 25% scoring on or above grade level in reading measured by the I-Ready End of Year Benchmark Assessment.
Reading
Second Grade students will meet reading expectations (Proficient) IReady Assessment.
Math
Second Grade students will meet math expectations (Proficient) IReady Assessment.

To help your child meet the district and school goals, the school, you, and your child will work together to:
SCHOOL/TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pooler Elementary School, will:
- Provide students with reading materials including fiction and nonfiction books, magazines, newspapers, etc.
- Supply students with comprehension question packets to take home and use when reading.
- Hold a digital math literacy night to help parents locate websites and give additional resources to increase student acquisition of math skills & literacy.
PARENT/FAMILY RESPONSIBILITIES:
We, as parents, will:
- Encourage my child to read nightly including fiction and nonfiction books, magazines, newspapers, etc. (suggested time 20 min).
- Ask my child about and discuss materials read using a comprehension packet.
- Practice math literacy skills using provided websites and other resources given at the Digital Literacy Math Night with my child.
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
I, the student, will:
- Read 20 minutes each night including fiction and nonfiction books, magazines, newspapers, etc.
- Talk about what I read to parents and friends using comprehension questions supplied by teacher
- Practice math skills using provided websites, and other resources given at Math Night.

By May 2025, our 3rd-5th grade students will increase from 56.7 % reading at or above grade level on the Georgia Milestones Assessment (GMAS) to 62% reading at or above grade level in Reading on the GMAS.
By May of 2025, our 3rd -5th grade students will increase from 65% developing or above in math to 70 % developing or above in Math on the GMAS.

- Ensure student has appropriate Lexile level book checked out from the media center each week.
- Provide weekly newsletter with vocabulary/spelling lists.
- Provide students with multiplication table to practice math fluency.
PARENT/FAMILY RESPONSIBILITIES:
We, as parents, will:
- Make sure my child reads nightly for 20 minutes based on their Lexile (reading level)
- Ensure my child studies weekly vocabulary/spelling words provided in newsletter
- Practice math facts with my child using multiplication table provided by teacher
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
I, the student, will:
- Read each night for 20 minutes on my Lexile (reading level)
- Study weekly vocabulary/spelling words in preparation for weekly tests
- Practice math facts daily with multiplication table provided by teacher.
